It turns out that in our decades’ long struggle to restore Lake Tahoe’s clarity, our furry best friends might be the key to saving the lake. We’re harvesting invasive Mysis shrimp and turning them into dog treats!
What People Are Saying
“It’s incredibly smart to take something destructive & turn it into something enjoyable. Having a dog who loves seafood, I think he'll enjoy the flavor of the treat.”
— Susie Betsayed, Dog Owner
“I've been working on water quality projects in the Lake Tahoe basin for the past 20 years and this might be the most exciting project I've ever heard of… The fact we can create jobs, stimulate a local economy, use proceeds to fund research and have healthy snacks for our animals will make this a model for restoration. This could be the missing component that really turns the corner on restoring Lake Tahoe clarity."
— Russell Wigart, CPSWQ, CPESC, QSD, Stormwater Coordinator - Tahoe Basin
